I studied Marketing and I have been promoting Mexican artist for a couple of years, because I fell in love with art in all its artistic manifestations. When I started promoting artists overseas I was in London assisting to the Tequila and Mezcal Fest, there were promoting and Art event of Mexican art, some of the artists were established in Europe and London, other travelled from Mexico or USA to exhibit their art pieces with the objective of getting popularity and sell, so while I was there they asked if I could help them to promote their artowrk.
That was when I started studied a little bit more about art, I took some courses focused on Marketing in the Art world in one of the most impressives and recognized Institutes of art in London, called Sotheby´s.
I decided to take this course to give an excellent service with the knowledge needed, so I took the chance and started working with some Mexican artists, Art Galleries, and Art designers from there. I acquired experience and now I came up with my own Art Marketing Consulting. Therefore I can share with you some tips in this field for those that dont have idea or dont know where to start.
Maybe some of you have read, have heard about doing Marketing and getting to the top in the search results could be complicated or just dont know hoe to do it, so I am going to give you this 7 Marketing tips that will help you to start doing Marketing for your web, blog, art gallery online or how to use your social media to get more followers and do branding, easy and by yourself.

Expand your market
Taking your artwork overseas is essential to expose your work to new potential clients, even if they are not collectors you can make fell in love with your work, doing this help tremendously to build your networking. Assist to art events and art shows helps to find art collectors to be part of an art gallery in other countries and can take advantage for your curriculum.
Know your buyer persona
At this point you should know what kind of people is your client or potential client if you have had buyers for several years. If not dont worry, if you are starting this is important to know, " Who will be your buyer persona?" if you already have in mind certain buyer persona so you can keep that line, maybe you want to see your artwork in a restaurants, offices, hotels or you want to sell them directly for their home you must thing a distribution channel and a platform to expose your work and get them.
Have your own web page or portafolio online
Getting a web page is very easy through different web platforms, such like: Wix, Site 123, Square Space, Wordpress, Jimdo, Weebly, etc. So these platforms are very easy to use if you want to start with something simple, these are very helpful.
A web page support to expose your artwork online, and can do some organic campaigns (SEO) or even paid campaigns (SEM) to get the first positions on Google and Bing, to get more visibility.
Make an amazing portafolio to show your work in a very attractive way and easy to navigate, you dont want to make your client waste their time, so also is basic to curate that content, be a little bit picky of what you want to show dont leaving aside your best pieces otherwise your clients could abandon your web page in less than a minute if they dont find something interesting.
Get your Social Media Accounts and Fan groups
Nowadays social media is an indispensable marketing tool to promote your art work, you can manage paid campaigns or organic post to get more followers, can develop fan groups and communities so there could have a direct channel to get to know better your clients and do some branding. Also, can express what has inspired you and be more detailed about your work. You need to be out there to be seen.
Update your social media regularly, at least twice a week, depending on your target, and how your audience ask you for more information, but always keep them informed and wanting more. Show your personality so you can start building your brand among your fans.

Distribution channels (online)
Find the correct distribution channels for your work could be a pain, but if you dont want to get in troubles with an online store inside your web page, you can find some art galleries that could sell your art online for you, or interior designers that have an online platforms, or physycal art galleries where collectors go and buy but always following the type of your buyer persona to sell your art easier and faster.
Have your own blog
Bring more traffic to your web page and social media accounts, besides you can intercat with other artists because you can blogging in other artists blogs and share opinions, and get visibility among their audiences so you could get more popularity and build your brand from there.
Having an active blog associated to your web page increases its rank in search results, so can benefit your SEO (search engine optimization), you can link all your accounts and share your blog post in each one.
Newsletter, an email marketing strategy that cant be missed
After you have built your own client list, you must consider keeping them informed and indulge them a little bit, giving them a sneak peak of your new work, or a discount or asking them if they want something personalized only for them, you can send them an newsletter per month or if you are planning to organized an event you can send them free entrance or telling them what they will expect from your new artwork.
